GeSIM — Product FAQ

What is GeSIM ?

GeSIM is a global eSIM connectivity protocol that lets you buy and activate mobile data instantly, pay with stablecoins or the platform token, and switch networks automatically — all without the traditional telecom friction of passport scans and manual provisioning.

How is GeSIM different from traditional eSIM providers?
  • No-KYC signup (where allowed): fast onboarding without passport or document uploads for typical consumer purchases.

  • Blockchain-native payments: stablecoins + platform token for settlement and fast payouts.

  • Smart switching: runtime QoS + cost-aware switching — we pick the right bandwidth for your app (chat vs video), not just the strongest signal.

  • Pay-on-usage: you pay only for the data you actually consume, metered in real time.

What role does blockchain play?
  • Wallets: your entitlement is wallet-linked.

  • Identity: a non-transferable SoulBound Token (SBT) proves entitlement without exposing PII.

  • Payments & escrow: smart contracts hold funds until provisioning succeeds, then settle instantly.

  • Gasless UX: paymaster options mean you don’t need to handle gas manually.

How do payments work?
  • You pay with stablecoins (e.g., USDC) or the platform token.

  • Funds sit in escrow until provisioning completes; if provisioning fails you get a refund.

  • Carriers receive near-instant settlements via secure vaults.

  • Pay-on-usage billing is supported by on-chain metering and off-chain settlement rails.

Do I need to manage private keys?

No — wallets are embedded by default for a friction-free experience. If you prefer full control, you can export keys/seed phrases anytime and self-custody.

Is GeSIM compliant with telecom standards?

Yes — we will integrate with GSMA-standard flows: SM-DP+, SM-DS and RSP for subscription provisioning and discovery.

How does GeSIM protect my privacy?

100%

  • Minimal PII: we don’t store raw personal identifiers on-chain.

  • Vaulting: full IMSI/MSISDN are encrypted in off-chain vaults; the SBT stores hashes/pointers.

  • GDPR-ready: access/erase flows are handled by the off-chain controller.

  • Optional confidentiality tech: we support confidential settlement options (e.g., FHE integrations) where required.

How do carriers (MNOs/MVNOs) benefit?
  • Instant stablecoin settlements and predictable cashflow.

  • A global demand pool of roaming users.

  • Minimal integration overhead — GeSIM handles wallet/escrow.

How does AI improve connectivity?

AI combines inputs (latency, throughput, congestion, user app profile, cost) to score nearby carrier profiles and select the best fit — dynamically and per-session.

How secure is GeSIM?
  • Immutable smart contracts for escrow and metering.

  • Signed provisioning receipts as proof-of-service.

  • Safe vaults for carrier payouts and full audit logs for compliance.

How will GeSIM make money?
  • Small protocol fee on purchases and pay-on-usage billing.

  • Treasury growth from staking economics and partner revenue shares.

  • B2B partnerships with carriers and infrastructure providers.

Who operates and upgrades GeSIM?

The protocol is developed and maintained by the GeSIM core team and partner carriers. Upgrade and release processes are managed off-chain by the foundation / maintainers.

Quick regulatory caveat (important)

Local telecom rules vary: some countries require identity for mobile subscriptions. When a local carrier requires KYC by law, GeSIM will surface the requirement in-app and follow the carrier’s compliance flow.
